sterling silver
beaded urn form
tea caddy.
Designed by
John C. Moore.
Moore was first listed in New York City
Moore & Brown 1832-1834.
1840s working alone, used the J.C.M. trademark
often supplying
Tiffany & Co. and Ball Black Co. the leading
retailers of the day.
1851 merged with Tiffany to manage their
entire silver operations, and
a few year later
this
lion and drop ring handle
urn form tea caddy was crafted.
Hallmarked as shown.
This c1858 Tiffany sterling lion handle tea caddy is 8 3/4 inches
tall and weighs 21 standard ounces.
Period engraved "Ostrow" and opposite side "23, July 1858".
In very fine condition.
Interior clean as if little used.
Retains original hand carved detail.
Rich sterling patina throughout.
Cover well fit.
