John C. Moore.
It displays a very
early pattern number
"295".
Moore was first
Moore & Brown 1832-1834.
By 1840s working alone, J.C.M. trademark
supplying
Tiffany & Co. and Ball Black Co. leading
retailers of the day.
1851 merged with Tiffany to manage their
entire silver operations,
shortly thereafter this
coffee pot was crafted.
Hallmarked as shown.
The identical early Tiffany hallmark in Carpenter pg. 214.
This c1855 Tiffany sterling coffee pot 10 inches tall and 9 1/2
handle to spout weighs 29 1/2 standard ounces.
Period engraved "Ostrow" and opposite side "23, July 1858".
In very fine condition.
Interior clean as if little used.
Retains original hand carved detail.
Rich sterling patina throughout.
Cover well fit.
Few very tiny dinks.
