TIFFANY SILVER COFFEE POT        c1840 JOHN MOORE - 62 OUNCES
This is a monumental, c1840 John C. Moore, of Tiffany & Co. fame
silver mask handle and bird head spout coffee pot.
Moore first listed in New York City as Moore & Brown 1832-1834.
In the 1840s working alone, used the J.C.M. trademark found on this coffee pot,
illustrated in Ensko pg. 292 and Carpenter page 211.
It was sold by a little known Manhattan retailer "Warrin"
located at 341 Broadway.
Moore also supplied Tiffany & Co. and Ball Black Co. the leading
American retailers, and by 1851 merged with Tiffany to manage their
entire silver operations.
Moore perhaps best known for the E.K. Collins service, made entirely of gold
from his California mine, which was
,
exhibited at the 1851 London Crystal Palace Exhibition.
This c1840 John C. Moore silver coffee pot is 15 inches tall
and it weighs 62 standard ounces.
Period engraved family crest, dragon head raised opposite
side Gothic S for the original family owners.
In very, very fine condition.
Interior clean as if little used.
Retains original detail.
Rich sterling patina throughout
