Up for auction is an
Extremely Rare
book with slipcase entitled Ryukyu Kobudo Taikan (Encyclopedia of Ryukyu Kobudo).
The author of this book is Taira Shinken (1897–1970).
The printed date of this book is August 25, 1964.
This book was privately published, not for sale and the first comprehensive book about Ryukyu Kobudo written in Japanese.
The book was only meant for the Association members (Ryukyu Kobudo Kenkyukai).
It also includes errata sheet to Sesoko no Kon, yet in fact the kata described is Sueyoshi no Kun.
This is
one of the rarest Martial Arts books ever printed in my opinion
.
I have spoken with several Martial Arts book collectors and a person who translated this book into English and we can agree there is probably only 300 or even perhaps only 200 copies printed of this book.
I own over 1,600 Martial Arts book and this is certainly in my top 5 in rarity.
