    this very rare

    James Musgrave
    sugar bowl & cover.
    First listed 1794
    Perry & Musgrave
    alone
    1795 to c1810.
    Little of his work has survived,
    most
    in museum collections
    including:
    Knox Museum,
    Minnesota Institute of Art
    Philadelphia Museum of Art
    Metropolitan Museum
    Detroit Institute of Art
    and
    the Winterthur.
    The later museum displays a tea service
    with
    identical
    panel engraved, radiating sun finial
    as found on the
    sugar bowl & cover we offer.
    Cowan's
    recently sold a
    Musgrave
    coffee pot for
    00.
    Period engraved

    for the
    original owner.
    Hallmarked as shown.
    This 215 year old James Musgrave sugar bowl 7 inches tall
    and 6 at widest 18 1/2 standard ounces.
    In very fine condition.
    Retains original hand carved detail.
    Rich silver patina throughout.
    Tiny spot surface wear just below rim and cover
    not perfectly flush to base, see images.
