    Description

    Up for bid is a fine Empire period American coin silver teapot by John Curry of Philadelphia, circa 1830. The piece is about 9 1/2 inches tall and is about 10 3/4 inches wide from spout to handle tip.  It weighs 1004 grams.  It has a hinged lid with an acorn finial in acanthus leaves as shown.  The hollow rectangular scroll handle has an applied leaf thumbpiece and insulators.  The rims and foot edge have a thin die-rolled border.  The piece is monogrammed “E JR” on one side.  The piece is marked [J.CURRY] and [PHILA] in rectangles, with two [J] stamps as shown.
    Condition on the pot is fairly good.  The foot edge appears to have been repaired, and the inside of the foot rim is darkened as shown.  The monogram is overpolished but still readable.  There are a few minor dings, but nothing of note.  A fine old coin silver teapot!
