Presented is a charming American coin silver serving ladle. This piece was made by George Sharp and dates to 1852-1866. The ladle is done in a classic Fiddle Thread pattern, with the fiddlehead-shaped handle and distinctive shoulders above the bowl. The terminal of the handle is monogrammed with ES in elegant script.
This piece is in great overall condition. There are a couple of dings to the bowl, but nothing excessive or strongly noticeable. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The ladle is stamped with the maker's mark for George Sharp, as well as the retail mark for Bailey & Co. George Sharp made silver items for retail by Bailey & Co 1852-1866.
The ladle is about 13 1/4 inches long.
The ladle weighs 243 grams or 8.6 regular ounces.
