    Description

Presented is a fine American coin silver serving ladle. This piece was made by Rufus Farnham and dates to around 1810-1820. The ladle is done in a simple, classical Fiddle pattern, with the distinctive fiddlehead shaped terminal and shoulders above the bowl. The handle has a monogram of BC in elegant script.
This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The piece is stamped with the maker's mark for Rufus Farnham (sometimes seen as Farnum), a silversmith who worked in Boston in circa 1799-1833, as well as stints of working in Hanover, New Hampshire and Norwich, Connecticut. The ladle has been tested and is guaranteed coin (900) purity silver.
The ladle is about 6 1/8 inches long.
    The ladle weighs 24.6 grams.
