Bright cut coin silver child’s spoon (just over 5”
long) with the initials T G S engraved on the handle, circa 1790s to 1800s. No
maker’s marks. The little spoon has a very nice bright cut design on the
handle. Note how the bowl is attached to the handle. There are lots of minor
dings in the bowl and some teeth marks at the end of the handle. TGS may not
have been born with this silver spoon in his or her mouth, but he or she
certainly had it in their mouth while teething! This was likely made by a silversmith
here in southern New England, perhaps in Rhode Island or Massachusetts. The
little spoon is in only good condition. There are no major flaws other than the
dings and teething marks. Nice early bright cut American coin silver child’s
spoon!
