    Description

    Antique Tunbridge Ware Thread Waxer
    English * Circa 1880
This little antique piece was made in Tunbridge Wells in the county of Kent, England in the Victorian era.
Both ends have a mosaic star
like pattern created using pieces of different naturally colored woods. It still has the wax.
The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or loss and it unscrews so the wax could be changed. It measures almost 3/4" high and 7/8" in diameter. Several Tunbridge ware needlework tools are shown on page 138 of Gay Ann Rogers' excellent book
An Illustrated History of Needlework Tools
