Antique Faux Tortoiseshell Tatting Shuttle
English * Circa 1850
This slender antique tatting shuttle is made of beautifully patterned faux tortoise shell. It's held together with brass rivets and the post is carved of bone* that looks like it's been stained brown. It measures 3 1/4" long by almost 1/2" wide
.
The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or other damage. It doesn't even have nibble marks at the edges. It is sturdy with no wobble and intact, touching tips and was bought in England. The glossy patina is lovely.
*This item is made of bone from a domestic cow (bovine) and not from an endangered species.
