    Description

Antique Mother & Babe Bone Lace Bobbin
    English * Circa 1850
This exceptional carved antique bone* lace bobbin
was made by William "Bobbin" Brown (see pp. 41-45 of Christine & David Springett's
    Success to the Lace Pillow
). It has his distinctive shape and style.
It has a nicely turned shank and the center has a carved "cage" like opening that contains a tiny loose bobbin that slides around. This style is referred to as a "Mother & Babe".
The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or loss and it has a nice old patina. The spangle contains antique handmade glass beads and it measures slightly over 5" long.
*This item is made of bone from a domestic cow (bovine) and not from an endangered species.
