    Description

Antique English Inscribed Bone Lace Bobbin
    Circa 1870s * JOHN BUNYAN
This antique English bone* lace bobbin is inscribed "JOHN BUNYAN" with rows of dots carved between. It was made by the "Blunt End Man" (see pp. 48-51 of Christine & David Springett's
    Success to the Lace Pillow
). They show a John Bunyan bobbin on p. 48 (fig.17.3) and say that the bobbin was to commemorate the statue of Bunyan, author of "The Pilgrims Progress", that was erected in 1874.
It's in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or damage. The spangle has some nice  antique handmade glass beads and it measures 5 1/4" long.
