    Description

    Teaspoon
    E. Gifford
    1825-1860
Up for auction is an antique coin silver teaspoon.  The spoon measures just over 6 inches in length, and its weight is 18 grams.  Engraved onto the handle of the spoon is what appears to be: "H. D. Hathaway".  Stamped onto the back of the spoon is:  "E. Gifford" and "Fall River".  This mark was used by silversmith Ellis Gifford, of Fall River, Massachusetts, between the years of 1825 to 1860.  The Hathaway family name is an important name in the New Bedford, Massachusetts community (which is a neighboring town to Fall River), but I am unsure if the name engraved on the spoon has any connection to the Hathaway's of that city.
The spoon is in fair to poor vintage condition, with significant, overall denting and wear to the spoon, and for this reason it is being sold "as is".

Thank you for looking.  If you have any questions or would like additional information or pictures, please e-mail me as I would be happy to provide additional details.  Please note that all items being sold come from a smoke-free and pet-free home.  I am not a professional dealer, and am simply downsizing after years of collecting.  I try very hard to accurately list and describe the condition of each item that I sell, and can appreciate the frustration of receiving an item that is not as described.  Being human, I will occasionally make a mistake, and may miss a flaw or imperfection that would leave one dissatisfied with their purchase.  If this occurs, and you feel that the item you receive is not as described, please contact me immediately.  My goal is that each individual who buys from me is happy with their purchase.
