    Description

    This beautifully wrought, hand-chased and highly decorative sugar spoon measures 6 7/8 inches long, and the scalloped bowl is 1 1/2 inches wide. The back of the handle is signed "Titcomb." It is also marked "Coin." The condition is excellent. There are no dents, warps, wrinkles, or other problems. The back of the handle has been engraved in a lovely script with the initials "CMR." The maker, Albert Titcomb, was born in 1802 in Newburyport, Mass, but spent much of his professional life as a silversmith in Bangor, ME. He died there after 1890. This spoon is believed to have been made between 1846 and 1880. The silver is .900. Titcomb was listed in the Bangor Director at the West end of the Kenduskeag Bridge, as a silversmith, watchmaker, and jeweler. This item weighs 28.9 grams.
