    Description

Antique Carved Bone Child's Netting/Winding Clamp
    Chinese * Circa 1840
This petite antique sewing clamp is carved of cow bone
    .
eBay insists that I specify the kind of cow and I'm convinced it was a black and white cow*. It has both a netting knob and a freely spinning winding spool. The sides of the base are carved with birds, butterflies and flowers on a ground of clouds. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or other damage.
The screw is strong and works perfectly. It measures 4" tall (with the screw as shown) and is considered to be a child's size. A very similar child's clamp is shown
in the upper plate on p. 4 of
Sew Precious, Children's Needlework Tools & Dolls' Sewing Tools
    by Diane Pelham Burn.
*This item is made of bone from a domestic cow (bovine) and not from an endangered species.
I stand behind everything that I offer and
    guarantee
that it is exactly as presented.
** Full Insurance is included in the low shipping price for all of my auctions. **
I accept payment through PayPal, eBay or a check.
