    Description

Presented is a fine quality coin silver fish slice by Low, Ball & Co, predecessor to Shreve, Crump & Low. This piece dates to about 1840-1846. The fish slice is done in the popular Kings pattern, which features shell and leaf motifs on the handle. The blade of the fish slice has an attractive pierced design. The blade is silver, not stainless steel.
The handle of the fish slice is hallmarked with the maker's mark for Lows, Ball & Co, as it was used between about 1840-1846.
The fish slice is in good condition. The details of the pattern are still fairly crisp. The handle has some dings, and there is some surface wear throughout, consistent with the age of the piece, which could easily be polished up. There are no splits, no major dents, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The fish slice is about 10 3/4 inches long.
The fish slice weighs 135 grams or 4.7 regular ounces.
