Description
Presented is an 18th century set of 8 American coin silver tea spoons. Themaker’s mark appears to indicate Ebenezer Frothingham of Boston MA, although these
spoons seem to be too early to be made by Frothingham. Each rounded,
curved-tip handle has a traditional feathered or reeded border along the edge.
The back of each bowl has a raised shell decoration. The front of each handle
has a monogram of the letter B.
The back of each handle is marked EF. This set is guaranteed to be at least
900 purity silver. These spoons were probably made before 1776 and are therefore
colonial.
This set is in great overall condition for its age. There is commensurate
wear with age and use but there are no major dents, no splits, no monogram
removals and no repairs.
Each spoon measures 5 1/4 inches long and the combined weight of the set is
96 grams or 3.4 ounces.
