    Description

Offered here is an antique 1899 Corticelli Needwork book from the Nonotuck Silk Company in Florence, MA. It is paperback and includes random strands of Corticelli silk threads, notes and color plates, which in the introduction, says is the first time they were used and were produced from actual embroidery. I believe this came with my grandmother when her family came west from the southern states. The book measures 8" by 5 1/2" and is in very good vintage condition outside of a 2"
rip on the front cover and wear here and there throughout. Binding is great, pages are clean, outside has a few minor stain dots and darkening due to
use. And, you can tell it's been used religiously, as there are extra flower plates inserted within the pages (from another source), many random strands
of silk embroidery thread, a folded-up sheet of numbered 'Lessons on American Beauty Rose' by Tsuneo Takahashi. Professor Takahashi was a world renowned 'art embroiderer' from the early 1900s. There is also a hand-written note contained within: "Miss Lydia Engelke paid 85 cents on doilies and silk for sweet
pease (pees?) and furnished 8 cans of floss and 2 of filo silk.' Wrapped inside the note is an array of burgundy, pink and green silk threads.
Outside of a few minor dog-eared pages, light soiling and the front rip, it is in beautiful condition! I try to describe the best I can , so please ask questions before purchase.
Comes to you as-is, from a non-smoking home, and wrapped with utmost care!
Please ask questions before bidding as there are no refunds. Your item will be mailed within 2 business days of cleared payment.
    Thanks for looking!
