    Description

1856 Type 3 gold Dollar, authenticated / graded / encapsulated by NGC as Select Uncirculated, MS-62.  This specimen of the gold dollar series has rich, orange-golden lustre.
This coin, of the third and final (Type 3) design, has barely visible die clash marks on the reverse - silhouettes of one side stamped on the other - that you often see in gold dollars.  It is of the final type but with its date of 1856 and hard times to come, likely this coin was then hoarded for a while and kept and preserved afterwards.  Only about 1,000 survive today in Mint State.  Enjoy looking it over and considering to purchase!
