Coin silver tablespoon (just under 9” long,
bowl just over 1 ¾” at its widest) with engraved initials, by Coit &
Mansfield of Norwich, Connecticut, circa 1810s. The spoon has C & M stamped
underneath. Thomas Chester Coit and Elisha Hyde Mansfield worked briefly
together in Norwich, Connecticut, in the 1810s. They used a couple of different
marks with this one likely being the earlier one. The initials on the handle
look to be M.S. The spoon came from an estate in Montville, Connecticut, with
items tied to the family of Lyman Smith and Henry Austin Smith. The spoon is in
good or better condition with only very minor wear but with no breaks or
substantial dents. Very nice American coin silver tablespoon! Free first class
shipping!
